Kenya Wilderness Expedition

Travel to Kenya, where you will spend time in two remarkable locations. The first is renowned for the Big Five (along with a variety of other wildlife; hello, Great Migration!) and the second for its amazing beaches and big game fishing. After experiencing first-rate Hemingways hospitality in Nairobi, you will travel to the Masai Mara to explore this captivating terrain on foot and in a 4×4. Ol Seki Hemingways Camp, one of just a few campgrounds in the exclusive Naboisho Conservancy, will be your home. From its cliffside location, it offers breathtaking views. After that, you’ll spend a few days in Watamu, a secret paradise. Take a stroll on the beautiful, powdery sand, go snorkeling just off the beach, and go fishing with the pros. Or just pick one of the many cozy places to lie down!

Day 1:
Nairobi City Tour

Despite its unimpressive image, Nairobi offers a lot of fascinating activities, and if you ever find yourself there, you might even wish you had a few more nights to spend. The majority of the action takes place in Karen’s opulent garden suburb. A normal day might start with a visit to the David Sheldrick Trust’s orphaned elephants, spend some time at the Karen Blixen museum (along with coffee and cake), and conclude with a giraffe “kiss” at the Giraffe Manor Center. We suggest hiring a driver to show you the sights and maybe including a supper stop at one of the new eateries.

Nairobi is one of the few cities in the world with a national park right outside your door, so if you’re itching to start or are missing your daily animal fix, this is the place to go. There is a short walk at the gate, good game-watching, and four of the Big Five (not elephants) call it home. It’s simple to plan a half or full-day excursion from the city, and your driver will accompany you the entire time.

Day 2-4:
Naboisho Conservancy Masai Mara

You will be transferred to Wilson Airport for a local flight to Masai Mara, the world’s best wildlife destination. On arrival, you will meet our representative who will transfer you to your hotel before setting for your first game drive. In addition to two daily shared game drives in the Naboisho Conservancy, you will also have a shared bush breakfast during your stay, weather permitting, and a shared night drive throughout your stay.

Day 5:
Masai Mara - Watamu

After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy your last morning game drive before departing for Watamu. You will be transferred to the nearby airstrip for a flight to Wilson Airport. At Wilson Airport, you will catch another flight to Malindi Airport. On arrival, you will meet our representative who will transfer you to your hotel in Watamu.

Day 6-8:
Watamu

Watamu’s dazzling white beaches are situated in a world-class marine park, north of Mombassa, where coral reefs support 500 different kinds of tropical fish, sea turtles, and other deep-sea critters. Naturally, diving and snorkeling are at the top of the list, and the underwater scenery is just as impressive as the above. Between November and April, you can take a boat farther out for a day of deep-sea fishing, where you can catch a sailfish or marlin. Numerous water sports are available, such as stand-up paddleboarding, kite and board surfing, and picturesque sails. Nothing compares to being in a dhow at sunset. Explore the intriguing Gedi Ruins, where no one has ever been able to determine why they were abandoned, or kayak through the tangled mangroves and tidal wetlands while keeping a lookout for wildlife.

Day 9:
Departure

Enjoy your last lavish breakfast at the hotel as well as your last views of the beach before a transfer to Malindi Airport for a flight to Nairobi Wilson. On arrival, you will meet our representative who will transfer you to your hotel or JKIA for your onward flight.
