Simba Paka Camping Safaris.
Our Simba Paka Camping Safaris host a maximum of 16 travelers, offering more personal and intimate safari experience. These trips utilize specially designed 24-seater Simba Paka vehicles and are guided by a two – person safari crew. Travelers are responsible for setting up and taking down their tents, as well as participating in camp chores and cooking – true African adventures! Due to the physical demands, these safaris are not available to travelers aged 75 or older.
For those who prefer not to camp, we offer an accommodated upgrade on most tours. You’ll join the campers on the same itinerary, share meals, and assist with chores, but instead of basic accommodation each night.
Simba Paka Camping: Tents
On our trips, we provide two-person dome tents equipped with mosquito nets on the doors and windows, a sewn- in groundsheet, and a separate flysheet. You’ll share your tent with a fellow traveler. Don’t worry if you’re new to camping –these tents are easy to set up, and your trip leader will demonstrate how. You’ll need to bring your own sleeping bag, and a small pillow can add extra comfort. The crew provides roll mats for added convenience. On certain nights, you may even have the option to sleep under the stars instead of in your tent-just ask your Trip Leader when this is possible.
The tents are fitted with rain covers to help channel water away from the tent during rainfall. While they’re effective, it’s worth noting that camping in wet weather can sometimes result in minor dampness or occasional leaks. To minimize this, our tents are regularly maintained, and spare tents are carried on the vehicle for quick replacements if needed.
We camp at designated campsites along our routes, specially designed for Simba Paka travelers. Many African campsites have rustic charm and a unique “under African Skies” vibe. Facilities vary-Southern Africa campsites typically offer better amenities than those in East Africa. Most campsites have laundry facilities for hand washing, and some feature bars, flush toilets, or electricity for charging devices. On some occasions, we may bus camp, meaning there are no ablution facilities or established campsites. However, the experience of camping beneath the open African sky and immersing yourself in its natural sounds makes it truly unforgettable
Simba Paka Comfort Camping Safaris
Our Camping Safaris in Southern Africa are perfect for those seeking a more laid-back camping experience. You’ll stay in a two-person dome tent equipped with a camp bed, mattress, sleeping bag, and small pillow for added comfort. These safaris are fully serviced, with a dedicated three-person crew managing all camp chores, including cooking, cleaning, and setting up tents. This allows you to unwind and enjoy your time at camp stress-free. While younger travelers are welcome, these tours are particularly popular with those over 40 and families with children aged 10 and older.
