Day 1) Drive from Nairobi and pass through central Kenya towards Nyeri with a nice view of Mt. Kenya and the Aberdares ranges in clear day. You can take a brief stop over at the Equator near Nanyuki, the base town where you will pick the other team of porters and proceed to Sirimon park gate 2,650 m. After clearing with the park authority, you will start the hike through the forest accompanied by your guides, cook and porters to Old Moses camp 3,300 m. ( 3-4 hrs walk).
Day 2) Old Mose to Shipton camp 4,200 m.
After breakfast hike through the moorland viewing high attitude flowers, animals and birds to Shipton camp 4,200 m. ( 6-7hrs walk POLE POLE).
Day 3) Acclimatization day
After break fast, take an exploration hike around the peaks ascending up to 4,600 m where turn lakes and permanent glaciers make the source of most big rivers in Kenya and return back to Shipton camp 4200m for lunch, dinner and overnight.
Day 4) Shipton – Lenana to Bandas camp
This will be the longest day on the trip. Take an early morning tea and at around 2.30 am start the climbing along a lose scree which sometimes of the year is covered with snow to reach the summit of Lenana (4,985M) (3hrs) the third peak in Mt. Kenya to catch the sunrise and after a superb view from the summit as far as Mt. Kilimanjaro to the south, descend to Mintos camp (3hrs) to the Eastern side of the peaks where you will meet with your cooks and porters for breakfast. After the breakfast, descend through a scenic trail on Chogoria route viewing the fascinating Gorges Valley to Meru Mt. Kenya Bandas camp 2,950 m for hot shower dinner and overnight ( 6 hrs). Lunch served enroute. (Total 12 -15 hrs).
Day 5) Chogoria to Nairobi
After breakfast, descend for 2 hrs through the rain forest to connect your transfer off the mountain to Chogoria village and later drive back to Nairobi and porters back to Nanyuki arriving in the evening.
Transfers from Nairobi to and from the Mountain by public means ( Matatu), and from
Nanyuki to Sirimon gate and down from the forest to Chogoria village.
Food for 5 days on the mountain,
Accommodation in huts,
Guide, cook and porters services,
All Park entrance fees.
